PORTRAITS
I think what really makes a good photo is when there is a lot of stuff going on in a picture. It reels you in so that you can figure out what all is happening in the photo. I also what makes a good picture is something unique, something you don't see in your everyday picture. I'm still deciding but I think that I am going to do a portrait of someone else. I want my picture to focus on framing and simplicity, because I usually don't like simplicity and I want to see if I can take a picture that will be different from all the others.

fashion manipulation
-Her hair was changed, they made her neck longer, her face skinnier, and made her eye line go up a little more. Also, they made her eyebrows wider.
-I do not think that it is okay to change a persons appearance for a photo. Everyone is beautiful in their own way, and I personally think that without the editing she looked better.
-It sends the wrong message out to people, I think that making someone skinnier and changing their appearance is just plain wrong
-I think that fixing small blemishes and whitening teeth are okay but changing their entire face, and making them skinnier or thicker is not
-fashion photography is on fashion, photo j is on anything like even landscapes and nature
-i don't really think it shows reality because they make these people so pretty, and they don't really even look like that

photo manipulation
A. The University of Wisconsin basically did false advertisement. They took a picture and then added a black guy so that it would look as if they are a diverse school. The university officials didn't really see anything wrong with it at the time, but after the media found out about it they regretted doing it. Now, they are thinking about reprinting all of the brochures.
B. I think that it should be allowable only because the picture of the black person was actually a student of that same university. If it would have just been some random person from somewhere else though, I would have thought it wouldn't be allowable.
A. I think the most unethical photo manipulation picture is the one with Oprah Winfrey. They put her head on some other girls body. I would personally be insulted if is was Oprah. It seems like their saying "We don't like your body but we need your face, so lets just use some others girls body since its nice."
B. I think that the National Geographic one is okay. All they did was just move the two pyramids a little close so you could see both of them on the cover.

1.) Is anything in sharp focus?
a.) The 2 boys are in focus and the girl is not
b.) since the girl is looking straight forward I decided to not focus her
2.) there is not good good contrast, it is too dark
a.) the appeture setting is the cause

4.) there are not spots on the print
5.) there are no rings or spots

rep.
Performers take part in the closing ceremonies for the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing.
The Red Sox let the champagne fly after winning their second World Series in four years.
The repeated items in this photograph are the beer bottles and the beer that is being shot out by them and the buckets that are carryig the bear bottles. Also the people wearing long sleeves red shirt with a short sleeve grey shirt atop of it. This attracts the eye in making them view that there is something big that is occuring to the right of these people.
A pattern of lights forms a giant 275-foot jack-o-lantern on the side of WaMu Center in downtown Seattle.
As for this photograph, the thing that is being repeated are the lights that you see in the sky scrapers. It attracts the eye and leads it to the middle of the photo where the jack-o-lantern is lit up.

sugar hill
A.Melanie Burford had photography and photoshop skills to produce the show and to edit the pictures of photos. She had people skills for speaking to the people of Sugar Hill, and was good at web design to create the website.
B. Multimedia affects the show a lot because it puts more emotion in it and allows the people of Sugar Hill to speak out about what they feel and gives a better perspective on the show and the purpose of it.
3. The most interesting multimedia effect on the video is when cop who arrested a man for public intoxication. You heard all of their talking, their conversation, and could pretty much feel all the action occuring at the time.

more about Karsh
1. Honestly, the reason I chose the black and white photographer I did was because I love pictures with flowers and trees and his picture with a woman dancing in front of the tree was one of the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen.

1.) Focal length of lens -70-200mm
2.) Shutter Speed - 640 f
3.) What is the effect of shooting at this shutter speed?- that you can freeze your model in the air w/o a blur

5.) What is the effect (Depth of field) of shooting at this aperture?- not only do you get your main subjects, you also get people in the background above the 3 subjects
6.) Position - Describe where you think the photographer was standing to get this shot.
he was prob. standing on the sideline slightly crouching down to get just below the subjects a tiny bit.

my pinhole shots
Some differences I noticed was they are flipped around, for example the tire on the car is on the left side in the positive but on the right side on the negative. Also the positive is a little darker and the negative is really white.
negative-noting an image in which the brightness values of the subject are reproduced so that the lightest areas are shown as the darkest

9/11
This picture is both lines and simplicity. It shows the American flag and 2 hangs holding each other meaning that we are a family and are always there for our people, good or bad.
This picture is balance. Although the other building is falling down, its evened out with all of the smoke. This is a very powerful picture, and also a very sad one.
This is the rules of third the man is in the middle of the picture and the background is all of the boxes. I think that the man is praying, but I can't really make it out. That is the only flaw with this picture, I think. Also it is framing, because all of the boxes are surrounded around the main subject.

Hurricane Ike
This picture caught my eye because its crazy how such a huge wave and wind can destroy so many houses. A good example of this picture is balance because the wave makes a good triangular shape. I like this picture because of the composition.
This picture is good example for the rules of thirds because the picture is all the same with a fish stuck right in the middle of the fish. I like this picture because its a strange picture. You don't see a fish stuck on a fence everyday.

PINHOLE CAMERA
1. There is no person or action in this photo, just a empty resurant booth. There is a blur in this photo, mainly because of the lighting (I think) in the background.
2. What is in focus is the bright lighting at the bar, and what is out of focus is the booth because its sort of dark and hard to see.
3. This image is not warped.
1. There is not a person or action in this photograph, which is sortof the reason why I like it. It is a standstill and calm which got me to notice it. There is not a blur in this picture.
2. Its hard to say which is in focus and which is not, but I would have to say that the trees are in focus and the flower petals on the ground are out of focus.
3. This image is not warped.

my opinion
I really like this picture because i love the angle that the photographer shot it at. I also like how you can see the models shadow on the bookcase behind or to the left of her. I think what made this a good photo is the shadow of the girls face, it really makes the picture.
I don't like this picture because it doesn't have a focus really. I looks like the photographer accidentally shot this one. What would have made this picture better, i think is if it were to show his face but at the same angle this picture is.
