The 2009 Akins High cafeteria staff may work hard every day to prepare breakfast and lunches for the 2500 student population, plus some of the staff members, but not too many people are very flattered with what they prepare each and every day.

I personally am not too fond of the menu as well; I believe there could be some minor changes that would help to reduce some of the complaints starting off with adding a nice salad bar to the cafeteria and ending at better quality milk cartons.

“I do not like the cafeteria food at all. The pizza is greasy and the chicken in the sandwiches are stale,” Bobby Rodriguez said.

The majority of young teens can all agree that their school cafeteria can’t exactly be the # 1 gourmet restaurant in the city, but the food could at least have a better taste. Most high school students complain about their nasty lunch menus and nothing seems to change about it.

I asked Bobby if he had ever tried to do anything about the problem at hand and his response was “No, I haven’t. I should though, so I can enjoy my lunches.”

Although many complain about the bad cafeteria food, at least I was able to see that some people can find something positive out of a bad situation. There is usually at least one good item off of a horrible food menu that people can look forward to during their first 2 class periods, whether it is the fries or a roll, something is hopefully liked.

“If there was to be one thing that I wouldn’t change on the school menu, it would have to probably be those taco bowls, their tasty,” Rodriguez said.

In conclusion, this should be a message to all cafeteria staff to try and better the school lunch menus for almost everyone’s sake.
